King Arthur

  • St Gabriel's Church Pimlico (map)

Join us for a community performance of Henry Purcell’s celebrated semi-opera, King Arthur.

Foundation Scholars, Pimlico Chorus, Pimlico Children’s Choir and children from local schools join together for this collaborative showcase of musical storytelling.

Purcell’s King Arthur is a semi-opera first performed in 1691, set to the backdrop of the Saxons vs the Britons. The story centres on Arthur’s search for this fiancée, the blind Cornish Princess Emmeline, and includes supernatural characters, bringing in a fantastical twist.

Featuring famous pieces such as "Fairest Isle" and "Come if you dare," the piece blends spoken drama with striking musical scenes.
